Maggie Walker Welcomes New Coaches to the Spring Sports Lineup
New Coaches to Take the Helm in a Number of Spring Sports

February 25, 2010  Maggie Walker will be welcoming a number of new coaches to our coaching community this spring.  

 

This spring the boys’ soccer team welcomes new coach Ryan Molloy.  Ryan is a native of Richmond where he graduated from Hermitage High.  He attended Virginia Wesleyan College, where he was a four year starter and multiple All ODAC Conference and All South Region selection.  He has coached soccer at the club level, ODP level, High School level, and College Level.  He is currently the Director of Administrative Operations for FC Richmond.  Previously, he held the same position at Beach FC, in Virginia Beach, before moving back home to Richmond.   Ryan and his wife Carin, have two children, Raleigh (4) and Cooper (2).

 

The JV boys' will be lead this year by  name is Albert Ottati.  Albert was born and raised in Richmond and graduated from Maggie Walker in 2004.  While at Skidmore College (Saratoga Springs, NY), he continued his playing career, lettering all four years.  Since graduating he's worked with a couple of clubs, most recently North Meck Soccer Club (Mecklenburg County, NC) and the Richmond Kickers.


Girls tennis will be lead this year by Tami Casey. Tami graduated from James Madison University in 1991 and has been playing tennis most of her life.  She currently plays on both Suburban and USTA teams, is the coach for girls tennis at Hungary Creek Middle School and provides individual and group lessons to the residents in the Wellesley community in the west end.

 

The varsity girls’ soccer team will be coached this season by Ian Kelly.  Ian is a 2003 graduate of Powhatan High School and member of the Richmond Strikers Soccer Club.  He attended Virginia Military Institute until having shoulder reconstruction at which point he moved to Richmond, VA and opened an award winning restaurant, catering company, and microbrewery.  Recently he has been coaching alongside Greg Simmonds at U-Turn Sports Performance Academy, working with elite teams from Strikers, Kickers, and United FC.  Ian also serves on the Board of Directors for the Central Virginia Soccer Association and runs the Greater Richmond Futsal League.

 

The junior varsity girls soccer team will be co-coached this season by returning coach Joe Lozak, and new coach Sarah Rogers.  This is Joe’s second season at Maggie Walker.  Joe is currently a junior at VCU studying Criminal Justice, and graduated from Central Bucks South High School, in Bucks County PA in 2007.  He is a huge fan of Manchester United Football Club, and has been involved with soccer since he was five years old.  In his free time he enjoys working out, playing golf, playing/watching soccer, and enjoying the friendships acquired at school.

 

Sarah is originally from the Virginia Beach area where she played for Beach FC, Virginia Rush and Bay Rivers.   She is currently a junior at VCU and enjoys surfing when she is not on the pitch.

 

The boosters would like to extend a welcome all the new coaches to the Maggie Walker community, and wish them all good luck with the upcoming season.
